The Local Area
The Skagit Valley, home to Fisher & Sons, is centrally located on the I-5 corridor between Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. It is bound to the west by Puget Sound and to the east by the Cascade Mountains. The location is perfectly situated for those seeking a diverse living experience-- since it allows a rural lifestyle, rich in recreational opportunities, while being situated in close proximity to the metropolitan offerings of Seattle and the international flavor of Vancouver.
Skagit County, although predominately rural in character, has experienced relatively rapid growth in the recent past, with a 20% increase in population during the last 15 years. Currently the county's population is estimated at just over 100,000. Burlington, the location of the home office of Fisher & Sons, is the second largest city in Skagit County. It is home to the major retail core businesses of the county. Traditional Skagit County industries include agriculture, fishing and wood products; however, these traditional mainstays have been joined by tourism, retail services, international trade and specialized manufacturing.
